Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s second appearance in a senior international ended in disappointment as he had to leave the action after just half an hour of England’s friendly international with Brazil.
The midfielder came off with an injury sustained to his lower back but after the game England boss Gareth Southgate spoke of how much this international break will have been a benefit to the the 21 year old.
"Today's a disappointment for him to have to come off because I think he'd already shown some really good touches within the game.
"The 10 days overall have been a massive stride forward for him. You know for him at his age to come into these games and perform as he has on such limited league experience is absolutely outstanding."
As for the injury Southgate commented that the disappointment for Loftus-Cheek will be short term and one he doesn't expect will keep out of action for too long.
"It’s a problem with his back which he has had periodically, It should settle down fairly quickly. I don’t expect it to be a problem."
Roy Hodgson will be able to give a further update on this at his pre-match press conference on Thursday at 1.30pm.
