Ladies Report: Crystal Palace 3-1 West Ham United

23 October 2017

Palace Ladies moved through to the next round of the County Cup on Sunday, courtesy of a 3-1 victory against West Ham Ladies.

A change of mind by the match referee gave Palace a penalty just before on the quarter hour mark when an original free kick decision was changed to a spot kick and Nikita Whinnet made no mistake to give the home side an early lead.

Palace extended their lead against the London neighbours on 30 minutes as the Hammers goalkeeper, Cherie Rowlands, made a good save to keep out a shot from Pam McRoberts but Ellie Stenning was on hand to put in the rebound.

The visitors reduced the arrears with sixteen minutes of the game remaining as substitute Julie Melfald fired home a left-footed shot from outside the area to bring her side back into the match.

Palace ended the game strongly and got their deserved third of the afternoon after Stenning’s perfect pass picked out Ellie Bailes, who finished the move from close range.
