Cabaye On Bournemouth, Luka & Points

6 April 2018

Yohan Cabaye goes into Saturday’s match at Bournemouth hoping that the squad can learn from their experience in the relegation run twelve months ago and build on their performances in recent weeks.

“Last season was tough but we learnt from that situation and hopefully we can keep cool heads and some of our games we have been very good in terms of our football and quality on the field but unfortunately we didn’t take any points from some of them but we need to keep playing with the right mentality and I am sure come the end of the season we will be where we want to be.”

In December the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park four first half goals meant that the points were shared in a 2-2 draw and Cabaye believes that Saturday’s encounter will be as keenly contested as that game at the end of last year.

“It will be tough game, it’s a tough place to go and they have a very good team with good players and a good mentality but I’m sure we have the quality to go there and play our game and we know we need to get points so need to play for a win.”

Luka Milivojevic made the move to Selhurst Park just over a year ago and in the absence of the injured Jason Puncheon he has recently taken the captain’s armband and away from the midfield has nine goals to his name.

Playing alongside him Cabaye believes that the Serbian international has been impressed with the contribution he makes to the performance of the team.

“Luka is a really important part of our team and is the link between the defence and the attack and with him in the line up the team is well organised and has a good balance.

“With him being there for me in midfield it gives me more freedom to go forward and attack because I know he’s there behind me and he can close space available for the opponents.

“He is a leader on the field and that side of his game is really important for the team and he deserves the season that he has had and hopefully our season will end well and in can go to the World Cup in good spirits.”
