Saturday’s meeting at Selhurst Park will be the third time that the two sides have met this season and Roy Hodgson is once again expecting a tight affair as the battle for points in the derby game will be as closely contested as when the honours were shared in the goalless draw in November.
“Both were tight games and once again we will be playing a very well organised team who knows exactly what they are doing and do it well and are a hard working team, add to that the derby factor which is of extreme importance for both sets of supporters. With all those in the mix it’s going to be a really big occasion but I believe we are ready for it, as are our supporters,“ Hodgson said at his pre-match press conference as he called on the fans to show their support in the right way.
"We need your support but we need it to help us through the football match and don’t wish to see any trouble and I would extend that message to the Brighton fans as well. I am hoping that the people who come to this game, the 25,000, are coming because they really want to support their team and believe they are going to see a good game of football and see their team win.
"My plea to the fans is not to give anyone any chance to say that your behaviour is not the right sort as a supporter of your team."
