Roy Hodgson spoke of his delight for defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he was named in the England Under 21 squad for Euro qualifiers with Holland and Latvia in the next week.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday the Palace boss, who gave Aaron his first Premier League start last season, is not surprised that the 20 year old was named by the England management.
"He's a very good player and had a good game on Tuesday night after missing the match at Watford through suspension but it doesn't surprise me that he has been called up as I know that the England people who follow him do think he is a player with great potential and they like what they see. I would have been rather surprised if he hadn't been included in the under 21 squad but I am really happy for him and happy for the club," said the Palace boss as he spoke about another academy graduate making the step up to senior level at the club.
"These days we all talk about bringing players through our academy and getting them into the first team but it doesn't happen that often so when it does happen you have to be really pleased about it."
