Fresh off scoring his first Palace goal against Swansea City on Tuesday, striker Alexander Sørloth has been included in Norway’s squad for next week’s UEFA Nations League games against Cyprus and Bulgaria.
The January signing has won 14 caps for his nation since debuting two years ago, and scored against Iceland in a friendly back in June which was his second international goal, having netted against the same opponents on the occasion of his second cap.
Managed by Lars Lagerbeck, Norway have won all four their matches in 2018, including victories over World Cup participants Australia, Iceland and Panama, as they aim to build for the future and qualify for their first international tournament since the 1998 World Cup.
They have been placed in League C for the inaugural staging of the competition, and will host Cyprus in Oslo on Thursday 6th September before travelling to Sofia three days later to take on Bulgaria. Slovakia are the other team in their group.
Sørloth is one of five English-based players in Lagerbeck’s squad, including Bournemouth striker Joshua King, Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen, Markus Henriksen of Hull City and Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.
