On his return to Craven Cottage this afternoon Premier League opener against Fulham, Roy Hodgson has given Wayne Hennessey the nod in goal ahead of summer signing Vicente Guaita.
The Welshman will start the season between the posts in what is the only change from the Eagles’ final pre-season friendly last weekend against Toulouse, which brought a 4-1 victory.
Guaita is named on the bench alongside fellow summer signing Cheikhou Kouyate, with Max Meyer and Jordan Ayew not yet match-fit.
Fulham meanwhile include just four players who started last May’s Championship play-off final win over Aston Villa, with six summer signings included in their starting XI.
Those include Calum Chambers and Joe Bryan in defence - the latter only arrived on Thursday on deadline day - while another last-minute capture Timothy Fosu-Mensah is named on the bench against his former club.
Fulham: Fabri, Bryan, Christie, Chambers, Le Marchand, Cairney, McDonald, Seri, Schurrle, Sessegnon, Mitrovic. Subs: Rico, Fosu-Mensah, Cisse, Johansson, Kebano, Kamara, Vietto.
