Hodgson - We're Fit and Have an Opportunity to Win on Saturday

14 December 2018

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has looked ahead to his side's match against Leicester City at home tomorrow and has remarked that the Eagles have a chance to pick up points as well as silence critics with a performance without Wilfried Zaha.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said encouragingly, "While it's too soon for [Christian] Benteke - he's out training and we're very happy with that - the other players are all fit so that's positive."

Faced with the absence of Zaha, though, Hodgson was asked about how well his team can play without the winger and said, "All curses have to be lifted in one way and there's only one way we can do that. It [the game against Leicester] is an opportunity. [Having not won without Zaha] is a fact and it will be a fact until such time as we play a game with him unable to play and we win. There's an opportunity on Saturday and we'll try to take it."

Looking forward to Saturday, Hodgson remarked that while his team haven't been picking up the points they'd like to have been, they have the talent to tackle what is a tough challenge.

"We're not letting a lot in, especially if you take away the last two games. We need to take our chances more, we like to play a lot in the opponent's half and we get a lot of balls into the opponent's penalty area.

"Every time you go into a game and you're not winning, there's pressure. We're looking over our shoulders and are constantly needing to get the points we want to pull us away from the relegation zone. I believe the boys are more than ready to take that opportunity."

Palace will take on Leicester having scored eight times against them last season while not conceding once. If you want to buy tickets for the game, act fast. There are limited numbers available here.
