Wayne Hennessey has been included in Ryan Giggs’ first Wales squad as the Red Dragons head to the Far East to participate in the China Cup next week.
The Palace goalkeeper been included in the party that will take part in the four-team competition, which will also be contested by the hosts, Uruguay and the Czech Republic. Wales take on China on Thursday 22nd March, with the winners going through to the final and the losers taking part in a third/fourth-place play-off, with both games taking place four days later.
Giggs replaced ex-Eagle Chris Coleman as manager two months ago, and as well as trying to claim the silverware, he will be looking to assess his options before the UEFA Nations League kicks off in September, with Wales drawn alongside the Republic of Ireland and Denmark in their group.
Hennessey, who has won 73 caps for Wales during his career, has played 21 times for the Eagles so far this season and is closing in on a century of games for the Eagles.
He is currently third in the club’s all-time international appearance holders, having won 32 caps for Wales during his time in SE25, putting him only behind Mile Jedinak (38) and Aki Riihilahti (36) in the standings.
