Souare Back On International Duty

23 March 2018

Pape Souare made his first Senegal appearance since June 2016 after being named in Aliou Cisse's starting line up on Friday as they continued their World Cup preparation against Uzbekistan in Casablanca.

Cisse’s side were held 1-1 by Uzbekistan with Moussa Konate equalising after falling behind when they conceded a penalty after just 19 minutes, which Otabek Shukurov converted.

Souare, substituted after 74 minutes, was part of a side that created a number of chances and were unlucky not to get a victory as they warm up for the summer tournament in Russia this summer, returning to the competition after an inspiring debut 16 years ago when they reached the quarter finals of the 2002 World Cup.

Senegal now travel to France to play Bosnia-Herzegovina in Le Havre on Tuesday.
