Wan-Bissaka Excited At England Call Up

15 March 2018

Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka dream season continues with the news that he has been called up to the England under-20 squad for their upcoming matches against Poland and Portugal.

The defender revealed that he found out on Thursday morning of the call up and is excited at the prospect.

“I found out this morning when I arrived at the training ground, I was excited but also in shock. I want to achieve a lot with this team."

Wan-Bissaka has previously won a single under-20 cap for the Democratic Republic of Congo, which came against the country he will now represent.

“It was 2 years ago and I played against England but the result wasn’t we wanted”.

The international call up comes on the back of making his Premier League debut with matches against three top five sides and even though the results have not been want they wanted the youngster has taken plenty from the performances.

"I enjoyed  it a lot, we have been playing well as a team and kept fighting and hopefully I can keep playing for them."

Attention now turns to Saturday’s match at Huddersfield Town as Palace will be looking to close the gap on their opponents who sit just four points above Roy Hodgson’s side.

“It will be tough but I think we can at least get a point away from home, “ said Wan-Bissaka as he prepared for the trip north.

Keith Downing’s Under 20s side travel to Bielsko-Biala to take on Poland on Thursday 22nd March, before facing Portugal at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium on Tuesday 27th March and the Eagles right back gets another chance to make a debut following his first Palace start just weeks ago.

“It will be even better, to represent my country would be an honour so I am excited at the prospect “.
