Eagles development midfielder Will Donkin has been selected in Chinese Taipei’s 23-man squad for next month’s Intercontinental Cup tournament in India.
The 17-year-old, who has already won five caps for the side who represent Taiwan, could feature against the hosts, New Zealand and Kenya in what is a dress rehearsal for India’s participation in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. After a round-robin group stage, the top two teams will then play-off in a final to win the cup.
Chinese Taipei kick off their tournament against the hosts on Friday 1st June, before then taking on New Zealand on Tuesday 5th June and round off their group games against Kenya three days later.
The Taipei squad is made up entirely of players playing in the country's domestic league with the exception of Donkin, who won his first cap in November 2017 and a month later played in all three games as Gary White’s team won the CTFA International Tournament - their first silverware in 49 years.
