Roy Hodgson delivered a passionate message of thanks to the Selhurst Park crowd after the 2-0 win over West Brom. Here is his speech in full:
“I won’t speak for long. But what I’ll say is important not just to me personally because I’ve really enjoyed this season at the club, it’s been great. But I want to speak on behalf of the players because what you’ve done for us as supporters this year has been absolutely incredible. You haven’t always seen us play as well as we’ve done recently. You’ve had to endure some defeats here at home, and endure some performances that are nowhere near as good as the ones you’ve seen recently.
"But we’ve never doubted for one minute that your support is there. That you are behind us. That you’re suffering with us. You’re winning with us, and losing with us. And that’s an incredible thing.
"Finally, I’ll welcome you all back here again next season. We’re going to be determined to build on what we’ve done over these last few months where we’ve really played the football which would not only have got us into the top half, but maybe into the very top of that top half of the table!
"The club intends to build on that, but we’ll need your support next year as well. We depend upon you. Thank you all very much indeed, have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you next season.”
