Ruben Loftus-Cheek completes his season long loan at Selhurst Park on Sunday for the visit of West Bromwich Albion and then will be waiting for the announcement next midweek to see if he is set to spend his summer in Russia.
All international squads need to be named by June 4th ahead of the tournament kick-off on 14th June but Gareth Southgate is putting minds at rest earlier than most with his 23 man squad being named on Wednesday May 16th.
Before England’s campaign starts against Tunisa on June 18th they have warm up games against Nigeria and Costa Rica and the Eagles midfieider would be set for good news if it was Roy Hodgson selecting the names to represent the Three Lions in Russia.
“I don’t wish to suggest anybody to Gareth Southgate because it is his decision and his alone, so as a result I don’t want to been seen pushing any player towards him. If it was a question much more specific that if it was me selecting a squad today, would I find a place for him in the squad, then I would,” revealed Hodgson when asked about the loanee being a candidate for the summer tournament at his pre-match press conference.
