Roy Hodgson addressed the crowd at Crystal Palace's Boxpark takeover event on Tuesday night and looked ahead to the Eagles' game away to Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday as well as the rest of the season following a quick succession of games in December.
The Palace manager outlined the significance of the upcoming match against the Seagulls, stating that, "Any result which gets us three points will be a good result and Brighton is an important game. It’s a game that means a lot to everybody at the club and certainly to the fans. The players are very aware of that."
But that is just one of seven fixtures packed into a busy Christmas schedule, and Hodgson also gave his view on the run of matches filling the end of the calendar.
"The Christmas period is always an exciting time I think, and because we’re playing at home on Boxing Day, it means we can train on Christmas morning and spend a bit of time with our families in the afternoon.
"I have great belief in the players, we have a good squad with some good players. Over the rest of the season, we’ll get the points we need. We deserve a lot more from the way the team have played, but if we keep playing the same way and keep working hard I know the results will come."
In front of a large watching crowd, Hodgson finished by praising the Crystal Palace faithful and remarked upon what it means to have such loyal, vocal support.
He said, "We’re fortunate at Crystal Palace to have you fans coming every week to watch us play. We always play in front of a full house, and we always play in front of an enthusiastic and supportive crowd. Not all teams can say that.
"Thank you for your support, keep it going, keep with us and lead us on to the points we need so that we can have another Premier League season."
