Kirby Starts England U19s' Final Game

20 November 2018

Crystal Palace Under-23s midfielder Nya Kirby started in England Under-19's final game of their three recent fixtures, a 1-0 loss against Turkey Under-19s.

Having featured as a substitute in the Young Lions' first two games, Kirby was then started in their final match and played for an hour, being replaced by Arsenal's Bukayo Saka.

England won their first two games against Moldova and Iceland 4-0 and 3-1 respectively before Onur Taha Takir netted the match-winning goal for Turkey in the game's 72nd minute.

The loss ended England's Euro Under-19 qualifying stage, in which they were successful and so now the team will progress through to the elite round in March.

Elsewhere, fellow Under-23 teammate Oliver Webber made the bench for Northern Ireland's 3-2 win over Kazakhstan.
