Hodgson Preparing For A 'Very Tough Test'

30 September 2018

Roy Hodgson takes his side down to Bournemouth for Monday’s return to Premier League action with two victories on the road under his belt but knows he faces a side with an unbeaten start at home and are currently sitting at eighth place in the table.

When asked what has impressed him about the way Eddie Howe’s side have started the Palace boss believes that they have called upon a consistent style in recent seasons to build on during this campaign.

“There start has been good, there is no doubt about that with ten points from six games being a very good reward and they must be really confident. They haven’t changed their team spectacularly and their football has been pretty stable for the last two seasons which has given them very good results so obviously have no reason to change.

“We have a good idea what awaits us and the big question will be, are we good enough to deal with the threats that they pose and then of course to make certain that our football poses enough threats to them which will give us a chance to win the game.”

Last Saturday it was a just a second defeat of the season when The Cherries went down 4-0 to Burnley but having watched highlights and taking on board what he has heard about the game, the scoreline was harsh on the visitors on the day.

“From what I understand on the Burnley game it was one of those where you don’t actually get outplayed and thrashed 4-0, you concede goals at the wrong time and the rest of the game is a fairly even affair but unfortunately they take their chances and you don’t and end up looking like you have been totally outplayed but I understand that wasn’t the case. It was a pretty even game up there and Bournemouth played well again but got on the end of a bad result so we know how good they are and in particular at home so we are preparing for a very tough test.”
