Palace Ladies suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at Lewes on Wednesday evening as the home side scored two early second half goals to cancel out the Eagles opening goal from Ciara Sherw

The visitors took the upper hand after 23 minutes when Sherwood was unmarked in the box and made no mistake to convert the pass she received to give Palace Ladies the lead.

The advantage was nearly extended with just two minutes of the half remaining when the Lewes goalkeeper had to be alert to push a free kick around the post from 30 yards out by Ashlee Hincks.

The home side came out strong for the second half and within two minutes were back on level terms. Goalkeeper Megen Lynch made a fine save to put a chance onto the crossbar but could not prevent the ball being scrambled over the line as it came back down off the woodwork.

The strong start to the second forty five continued for Lewes at The Dripping Pan as Moloney's free kick from the edge of the box beat Lynch and secured the points for the home side.
