All you need to know on Victor Camarasa’s career to date

7 August 2019

Victor Camarasa has joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan and we’ve taken a look back at the Spaniard’s career to date for everything you need to know about the latest member of the Eagles’ squad.

Camarasa played with three youth teams whilst growing up in Valencia, south-eastern Spain, but spent the majority of his development stages with giants Valencia CF, joining Los Ches in 2001 and staying for the next 10 years of his life. All in all, the now 25-year-old competed with the Valencia academy between the ages of seven and 17.

Released in 2011, Camarasa joined local side Club Deportivo Alcoyano before moving to Levante UD, where he would go on to make his professional debut. It didn’t take him long to earn a first-team call-up after featuring for Levante’s B-side, playing against Recreativo de Huelva in the Copa del Rey in December 2013.

Victor Camarasa joins on loan from Real Betis

7 August 2019

Despite suffering a 1-0 loss with the La Liga club, Camarasa was handed a six-year contract just two days later.

After a La Liga debut coming on in place of Simão Mate against former club Valencia, Camarasa made himself a regular fixture in Levante’s first team squad under manager José Luis Mendilibar. It was only a handful of months later that he would earn his first of four Spain Under-21 caps against Belgium.

Over the coming two-and-a-half years, Camarasa would feature against Georgia, Norway and Denmark, winning in three of four clashes including a 5-0 triumph over the Georgians.

With Levante relegated seven points adrift from safety under manager Lucas Alcaraz, Camarasa was loaned to Deportivo Alavés to continue playing top-tier football. A successful season followed as the midfielder featured 37 times - the most he ever has in a single season.

Camarasa’s regular appearances with Deportivo earned him a permanent move to fellow Spanish club Real Betis, whom he has represented on 26 occasions.

Another loan then followed a year later - August 2018 - when Camarasa joined then-Premier League side Cardiff City where he scored five times in 33 matches, being described as ‘brilliant’ and ‘oozing class’ by manager Neil Warnock.
