McArthur - we've got pace, power and quality up front

23 February 2019

Grabbing two assists in Crystal Palace's remarkable four-goal victory over Leicester City, James McArthur spoke after the match on Palace's offensive prowess and how he regarded the game.

Speaking candidly, McArthur gave an honest assessment of the clash. He said: "I don't think we were great in the first half, we didn't control the ball as much as we'd like but they're a good side who put us under a lot of pressure. Getting that goal changes the game and in the second half we played with a lot more confidence."

The Scotsman bagged two contrasting assists today, one of which was particularly unexpected. However, his second came from a pin-point accurate cross and the Palace midfielder reflected on his pair of set-ups, saying: "The first one is obviously very, very lucky. The second one, Wilf is always in that back area so it's good he can get that goal.

"We scored at a really good time in the match, they were obviously growing with a bit of momentum but with us, we've got that much pace, power and quality up front that we're always dangerous."

The game can be celebrated in more ways than one, though, as Eagles manager Roy Hodgson has now become the oldest man to manage a Premier League football match. McArthur took time at the end of his interview to praise his boss on the remarkable achievement.

"It's an amazing achievement," he said. "Hopefully he can be with us for a number of years to come.

"Next up, we need to win the next match against Manchester United and keep pushing up that table."
