Speaking after the 5-0 win over Bristol City in a pre-season, a victory that Max Meyer was instrumental in - which resulted in a well-deserved goal - our German midfielder discussed the impact having his first Palace pre-season will have:
“I think we played our best pre-season [game], scored five goals, clean sheet; we must now try to keep going.
“I played good today, we played well as a team which makes it easier for me to perform, and that’s why I can score today and I am very happy about that."
Despite joining last summer, this is Meyer's first full pre-season with the club, and it is something that the former Schalke midfielder is benefitting from:
“Much, much better; I remember I signed it was just one week before the first game, it was difficult for me because I didn’t know anyone here. But now it is better for me to have a whole pre-season, it is good for my fitness.
“This is my second year, I am used to the Premier League and I hope I can do better this season.”
