“What’s your team?” Tommy Kahnle is asked pitchside at the London Stadium. “Crystal Palace,” he responds unequivocally.
With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox paying a visit to West Ham United’s home ground over the weekend to compete in the MLB London Series, Palace TV met Kahnle as he revealed his Palace fandom.
An avid follower of the boys from SE25 from across the pond, Kahnle enjoyed his time in England’s capital and said: “It’s been great so far. I got in, walked around the city, got to see what it’s like and I really like it so far. It’s really cool. I got to see the front of Buckingham Palace yesterday, to see a couple of the guards.”
And asked what it is about the Eagles which enamoured him in the first place, Kahnle explained that his own connections in the US have led to him keeping a keen eye on Roy Hodgson’s men throughout the season.
“I know the owner David and he kind of got me hooked on Crystal Palace,” he said. “I root for them. I watch them on NBC Sports Network.”
Upon being presented with a Palace shirt of his own, Kahnle said: “I’m going to be wearing this every weekend!”
Best of all, following Kahnle's time with Palace TV, the Yankees won both of their games in London.
