Hodgson excited for what the future holds for Wan-Bissaka

14 March 2019

Roy Hodgson has no issues over Aaron Wan-Bissaka missing out on a first ever senior England call-up despite an impressive campaign in the top flight of English football.

The right-back, who tops the Premier League charts for tackles won (74), has made the squad for the England Under-21 squad, though, with the young Three Lions facing Poland and Germany during the international break.

“He was picked for England Under-21s, which in itself is a very, very big honour. It is good to know, reading Gareth’s comments, that he is obviously aware of Wan-Bissaka, and aware of what he can do.

“I don’t think Aaron, myself or the club should start jumping onto media speculation regarding the player, it is up to the player to keep playing well, we believe in him and he has a very, very good future and at that age you have an awful lot of football and an awful lot of times left to play for England in the future, so it has no effect on us whatsoever”
