Crystal Palace Under-23s fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of a strong Sheffield Wednesday side thanks largely to a brace from the Owls' Liam Shaw.
Alex Hunt opened the scoring before Palace's in-form midfielder Gio McGregor netted for the Eagles after he fired home emphatically from a Kian Flanagan cross, bringing his side level as he did.
However, his effort was cancelled out with three goals less than 15 minutes into the second half as Omar Damba hit the back of the net and Shaw bagged his two.
The Eagles did enjoy chances of their own however, most notably when Ryan Inniss forced a goal-line clearance from Conor Grant and goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith was forced into impressive action to push McGregor's free-kick over his crossbar.
But their offensive efforts were in vain and with the match already won, Grant made it five to round-off a frustrating afternoon for Palace.
