It was a frustrating morning's work from Palace's under-18 side, who were on top for large spells of their clash with Bristol City.
The Eagles were bright throughout the 90 minutes on a gloomy Beckenham morning, threatening the visitors' goal more often than their own was in danger, and they looked the side more likely to snatch the three points.
A draw sees them remain four points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over second-placed Millwall.
Joseph Hungbo and Rob Street were key to a lot of Palace's early good work, with both testing the Bristol City goalkeeper inside the first half hour.
The pair combined superbly on 17 minutes when Hungbo weighted an outside-the-boot-through-ball perfectly for the powerful Street to burst through and rifle an effort narrowly wide of the far post, before linking up four minutes later for another nearly moment.
David Boateng, who along with Ryan Hanson was excellent in central midfield, was effective at breaking up play and getting Palace charging forward at a Bristol backline desperate to defend their clean sheet throughout and it was his near post cross after 29 minutes that was met by Street, but the number 9's powerful header zipped by the near post.
The two sides went in and returned from half time scoreless, with Bristol having their best spell just after the restart, though the back four of goalkeeper Oliver Webber, Jude Russell, Martin Onoabhagbe and Jashaun Chamberlain looked unlikely to be losing their clean sheet. City did little to threaten Webber's goal, but they reminded Palace to guard against complacency - a warning that was heeded by Hanson, who denied a final ball on two separate occasions with well-timed interceptions.
Palace continued to threaten, often through Street and Hungbo, as they looked for the breakthrough. The myriad combinations of Street, Hungbo, Courtney Watson, Sean Robertson, JJ Malcolm, Boateng and Hanson gave the visitors plenty to think about - and Will Donkin also threatened after replacing Watson on 71 minutes.
Hanson and Boateng both had chances late on, but neither found the target and the Eagles were forced to settle for a point and a clean sheet.
