The rout began just five minutes in when Palace pushed forward and got the ball into the feet of midfielder Robertson, and after rounding a defender he brilliantly found the net from a tight angle using the outside of his boot to open the scoring in style.
Then the Eagles added a second just four minutes later when Robertson picked up possession in a central area 35 yards out, and played an inch-perfect through-ball into the path of a striker that manager Paddy McCarthy is currently evaluating on trial, and he composed himself before casually slotting the ball past Town goalkeeper Luke Mewitt into the bottom corner to put the visitors in firm control.
Palace continued to pile on the pressure and Joshua Malcolm was next to nearly get on the scoresheet as he drew a good save from the shot-stopper from the edge of the box, but there was a moment of worry for McCarthy’s side when a backpass into Matthew Funnell proved difficult for the goalkeeper to control, but fortunately a Terriers attacker screwed his shot wide.
But just before the 30-minute mark Palace grabbed a third to virtually secure the points with an hour still to play when Robertson was brought crashing down inside the area for a stone-wall penalty, and skipper Joseph Hungbo took up the responsibility and fired high into the net.
The weather conditions worsened after the break but that didn’t stop a goal-hungry Palace side trying to add to their tally and Hungbo could have completed his brace when he seized possession off a dawdling defender but missed a one-on-one chance, but on 69 minutes they did grab their fourth to complete a brilliant afternoon’s work.
A cross from the left flank was headed out to the edge of the penalty area by a Terriers defender, but fell perfectly onto the boot of Robertson who drove a volley low into the net to continue the under-18s’ unbeaten start to the campaign.
