“It is so important for the club today to get that first win and against the champions but its three points that we deserved, we all put in a great effort and end up getting the rewards”.
His goal may not have been one of his cleanest strikes but he wasn't concerned how it found its way past Thibaut Courtois because it was to set the tone for the performance.
“The ball was cut back to me in the box and I touched it with my chest and then came back off my knee and then deflected in but I don’t mind how it came about, it was a goal for us and was the most important thing to take away that negative feeling about the side not scoring.
"It was a real happy feeling to see it go in and of course for us to get the win because we have now started our season with three points but now need to keep working and believeing in the games we have coming up. It’s important we play with confidence because we know we have the quality in this squad," said Cabaye as he reflected on what this result could mean for the club in the weeks ahead.
The noise levels that are generated at Selhurst Park are known worldwide but Yohan thought that they went up another notch on the volume controls in the defeat of Chelsea.
“At the end of a good day for us I want to mention the fans because they were, as usual, unbelievable but today Selhurst was really rocking and it proved a massive help for the team."
