The forward has now featured in three consecutive pre-season matches, having been sidelined by injury intermittently over the past two year period.
Now, however, he expressed his relief and confidence in being fit again and explained just how he has changed his approach to stave off continued problems.
He told Palace TV: "I feel better than I did last year for sure. I think I did more in the first week than I did in four weeks last year. Personally I’m feeling good, I’m feeling strong. I felt good out there today but each day I’m working hard. I took a different approach this year and it seems to be working so the main priority is to stay fit and be available for the manager.
"Mentally I’m more concerned about keeping myself fit and looking after myself in different ways. It seems to be working at the minute. I’m feeling good on the pitch I’m feeling good every day in training. I’m feeling stronger than last year so hopefully this year can be a lot more successful personally than it was last year."

Personal success may have fallen to Wickham today, but his team suffered a difficult evening at the hands of the Bees. The 26-year-old forward reflected on the clash, pointing out that the Eagles started strongly and can only learn from the tougher second period.
"We got off to a flyer I think," he said. "The boys performed really well in the first 20 minutes/half an hour. At two goals up we were cruising and then we gave a cheap penalty away and from then they took advantage of the space that we had in behind. We can take some positives from the first half an hour but there’s also a lot for us to learn. A lot for us to learn from the next five goals that went in.
"I think as footballers we should always want to win every single game, regardless of whether we’re playing Man City or we’re playing Barnet in a pre-season game. We should want to win every single game so it’s frustrating not to win. It doesn’t matter what side we put out, we have to try to win the game. I think for the last 60 minutes we didn’t play as well as we should have and it showed in the game today."
