“We missed many chances, especially in the second half while in the first half we hit the post. I think we deserved the three points and I am very happy with how we played over 90 minutes. We were compact and we had good organisation, we moved the ball quickly and created a lot of chances but in the end we take the point.
“When you cannot win, don’t lose, so we draw and take a point.”
Palace can look back on chances that got away as Luka saw his first half free kick hit the post and then a chance which Mamadou Sakho headed wide when he looked as if he was going to cap another fine defensive display with a goal as he got on the end of a cross from Andros Townsend.
“He wants to do the best and in the end he missed but maybe with the goalkeeper missing the ball that maybe that affected how he was able to get on the ball but we draw and try to continue in the next game,” said the Eagles captain as he reflected on the start to the season for his side, having collected seven points from the opening six games.
“We have started the season very well but after that we had three defeats and maybe two of those were unlucky then against Huddersfield we won. Today the most important thing for me was to get a clean sheet, we played a very nice game and we can take a lot of positives.”
