McArthur believes this latest comeback demonstrates the squad's determination and belief, as the Eagles impressive run continued on the south coast last night.
“We showed a great deal of character against a good side. In the first half we were maybe a bit too deep but in the second we got right at them and I thought we deserved the victory.
“We had the ascendency in the match once we got back on level terms and I believed we could win from there. They started to come out which created holes and when you do that against a team like us with players of the quality like Townsend and Zaha on the wing it plays into our hands."
Luka Milivojevic curled home the winner from 25 yards to send the travelling support wild with delight, and McArthur was quick to praise the Serbian's efforts so soon after his penalty miss against Manchester City.
“His performance on Sunday was unbelievable so we let him off the miss and even though we give him a bit of banter, we trust him to take the next penalty."
Roy Hodgson’s first match as Palace boss was the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park in September and the Scotland midfielder says the way the team have developed since that defeat is clear for all to see.
“The progress made since Roy’s first match against them in September is amazing. It’s been a big turnaround since those early days and we have grown in confidence and are playing in a certain way which makes us look solid as a team, but without losing our attacking threat which anyone who has watched us in recent weeks will see we look very dangerous on the break as well.”
