“They are a hard team to break down, we had a few chances but nothing clear cut but they got a few good blocks in there but it’s disappointing to lose after I thought we dominated today really.
“They are always likely to get chances and from one of those they got the goal and that is the difference really.”
The stat of Palace waiting for a home goal this campaign was once again the subject of the post-match press conference but the Eagles centre-half is heartened by the fact that the side are creating chances.
“It’s one of those things where football is different and in the next home game we could score a couple, you just never know, football is like that. I am sure it will come. We are creating the chances and if we weren’t creating them that would be a problem but it just wasn’t to be today.”
Another Selhurst capacity crowd watched the game in torrential rain but as always their support kept pushing the lads through until the final whistle. Tomkins was left frustrated that both players and supporters
“The fans have always been good, both our home and away support is very good but it is just a shame they didn’t have anything to cheer about today, they go away unhappy just like ourselves.
“We keep them with us because they are so important to us.”
