2017/18 proved to be Wan-Bissaka's breakout season, as he finally made his professional debut having been named on the Eagles' first-team bench a number of times during the previous two campaigns.
A member of the Palace academy since the age of 11, the tricky wide man began by playing on the right or left of midfield, but ended the 2016/17 season featuring in a wing-back role which saw him go from strength to strength.
Capped once by DR Congo at under-17 level, he established himself in the development side in 2015/16 and his impressive performances at that level led to him being named on the first-team bench on four occasions the following season.
However, after continuing to patiently wait for his chance, Wan-Bissaka featured for the first-team in pre-season and finally made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park in February 2018, impressing in subsequent games against Manchester United and Chelsea.
That led to a first England under-20 call-up the following month, while in September 2018 he made the step up to the under-21s.
