Comfortable with both feet, Boateng combined his Under-18 duties alongside featuring for the Development side in 2018/19.
In October 2019, Boateng signed his first professional contract with the club after receiving the Under-18 Player of the Season award the previous summer.
He competed regularly with the Under-23s after scooping the U23s Player of the Season for 2019/20, and was the only player to feature in every U23s fixture in the 2020/21 campaign.
Boateng amassed 20 appearances for the Under-23s in the 2021/22 season, along with an additional three in the Papa John's Trophy. His efforts earned him a place in the first-team squad which went on tour to Australia and Singapore in pre-season of 2022/23.
The midfielder made the move across the border to join Scottish Championship side Queen's Park on loan for the remainder of the 22/23 campaign. He made 41 appearances for The Spiders, scoring three times, as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
Boateng's performances saw him win Queen's Park's Supporters Association Player of the Year and Committee Player of the Year awards. He signed a contract extension in the summer of 22/23.
He then joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee FC on a season long loan in July 2023.
