Palace snapped up German international Max Meyer in August 2018 following the expiration of his Schalke 04 contract.
Capped four times by his country, Meyer had progressed through Schalke's youth ranks to make 192 appearances for the German side, including three UEFA Champions League campaigns. During that time he netted 22 goals and provided 24 assists for the Ruhr club, helping them to finish runners-up in the 2017/18 Bundesliga.
At international level the centre-midfielder has thrived, helping his nation win a silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games and then clinching the UEFA European Under-21 Championship the following year where he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
He had also received this accolade at Under-17 level en-route to helping Germany to a runners-up spot in 2012 when Meyer finished as the competition’s top scorer and named its best player.
He made the step up to the full national side in 2014 and has gone on to win four caps, scoring his maiden international goal against Finland in August 2016.
