The French international became the Eagles' record signing when he arrived from Paris St Germain in July 2015 and ended his first campaign in SE25 by playing in the 2016 FA Cup final as Palace were defeated by Manchester United.

Cabaye made his name at Lille in his homeland where he helped his local side become a force in French football, winning Ligue 1 in 2010/11. After gaining Champions League experience, the central midfielder joined Newcastle United and began to show his talent to an English audience.

In his first season with the Black and Whites he helped guide them to an impressive fifth-place finish, and became a firm fan favourite thanks to his tenacious displays in midfield and penchant for netting free-kicks.

He scored 18 times in 93 appearances under Alan Pardew's management before joining Paris St Germain for around £20 million in January 2014. He would complete a French league and couple double with the Parisians before deciding to return to England with the Eagles.

Six goals were registered in his debut season in the capital as he made 40 appearances in all competitions, helping him earn a call-up to France's Euro 2016 squad, having also played at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup. He would feature twice in the tournament in his homeland where he would finish with a runners-up medal, before going on to play 32 times in all competitions for the Eagles in 2016/17.
