Freya started her senior women's career at the age of 14 with Newtown Ladies in mid-Wales, where she stayed for two years.

At 16, Holdaway signed with Arsenal's academy and reserves. However, the defender was scouted whilst at the Gunners' and headed to Marshall University, where Holdaway played Division One football, and captained the side for three of her four years stateside.

Since returning from the United States, Holdaway has played Crystal Palace Women and is now in her fifth season with the Eagles. In her time with the south Londoners, Holdaway has won leagues, cups and individual honours (Players' Player of the Year and Club's Player of the Year).

At 28, Holdaway made her international debut with Northern Ireland and competed in the World Cup 2019 qualifying campaign and is currently a member of the squad looking to qualify for Euro 2021.
