The 35-year-old shot-stopper was a free agent following his release from Fluminense at the end of 2017, and after undergoing a successful trial in south London, he has been added to Palace’s 25-man Premier League squad.
Cavalieri will add a wealth of experience to the squad having started his career at Palmeiras in 2002. He spent six years with the Sao Paulo outfit before being brought to Anfield by Rafael Benitez, where he played 10 times over two years as an understudy to Pepe Reina, keeping four clean sheets.
In 2010 he spent a short time with Serie A side Cesena before returning to his homeland with Fluminense, where his performances helped them to the 2012 Brazilian league title, saw him named in the Team of the Year and earned him a call-up to the national side.
He made his Seleção debut against Argentina in November 2012, and went on to win two further caps as well as being a member of their successful 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup squad. He would make over 200 appearances for Rio de Janeiro- based Fluminense before being released at the end of the last Brazilian season.
