Crystal Palace Women enjoyed an unbeaten March in the Barclays Women's Super League 2, winning two games and drawing one.

Everett and Howat were a core part of the Eagles' success, with the Palace captain already being recognised for her efforts [by winning the WSL2 Player of the Month award for March.](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/aimee-everett-wins-wsl2-player-of-the-month-award/)

This isn't the first time this season that a Palace pair have been put forward for this accolade, with Howat and Ashleigh Weerden nominated for December's award last year.

Everett scored what would prove to be the winner in Palace's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, before keeping a clean sheet away to Newcastle United in the subsequent 0-0 draw.

She then skippered the team to an impressive 3-2 win over Charlton in the Selhurst Showdown on the 29th March.

It was also an impressive month for Palace's Scotland international, who bagged a goal and an assist.

Howat assisted Everett's header against Forest with a delightful cross, before putting Palace ahead against Charlton with a header at the back post.

She now has the joint-third most goal contributions in the WSL2 this season with 11, trailing Birmingham City's Lily Crosthwaite (14) and Palace teammate Ashleigh Weerden (13).

Both players are up against Nottingham Forest's Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Birmingham City's Neve Herron, Sunderland's Jessica Brown and Newcastle United's Charlotte Wardlaw.

## Annabel Blanchard

> Blanchard joined Palace in 2022 off the back of a remarkable season with Blackburn Rovers in which she earned both Coaches' and Supporters' Player of the Season, and has since grown into one of English football's most exciting playmakers.

Blanchard is a young, two-footed forward capable of playing across the front line or, more regularly, as a No. 10.

Blanchard began her career aged just 16 with Liverpool, but started her time with the England youth setup the year before, and has represented the national side from Under-17-Under-19 levels.

After leaving Liverpool she joined Leicester City and then Blackburn Rovers, with whom she finished joint-top goalscorer in 21/22.

Blanchard then joined Palace in the summer of 2022 and made a strong start in South London, with four goals in 22 Championship appearances in her maiden campaign.

In 2023/24, Blanchard's brilliance shone as Palace Women claimed promotion from the Championship, the forward scoring 11 times in just 19 league games including clinical hat-tricks against both Durham and London City Lionesses.

Such form led to Blanchard not only winning both the Championship Goal and Player of the Month awards in September – as well as a nomination for the latter for November – but also the club's Player of the Month awards for October and March to boot.

At the start of Palace's first-ever top-flight season, Blanchard became our inaugural Women's Super League goalscorer, netting a brace in our first win against Leicester City – 2-0 at the King Power Stadium – in October 2024.

[Vanhaevermaet recently sat down with Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws](https://www.hln.be/voetbal/ik-kreeg-een-brace-om-mijn-schouderblessure-geloofwaardig-te-maken-justine-vanhaevermaet-stond-zwanger-op-het-veld-bij-de-red-flames~af56889f/?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F) to discuss her recent pregnancy announcement, how she has been supported, and the World Cup next year in Brazil.

She became the second Palace player to announce their pregnancy their year, after Josie Green's earlier announcement in January.

Vanhaevermaet spoke about the reaction she received when she told her teammates.

She said: "The reactions were beautiful. 

"My partner Thomas (De Jonghe, who formerly worked as a physio for Club Brugge) and I are a bit overwhelmed by all the congratulations we’ve received, including on social media.

“Everyone is thrilled and very curious. We get a lot of questions - 'How is it going? What happens now? Are you still allowed to train?'

"I enjoy sharing those things. I’m even considering doing that on Instagram, to show that you can indeed still play football while pregnant.”

She spoke about the earlier stages of her pregnancy and how well she has been supported by the team at Palace.

“I am being brilliantly guided at Crystal Palace, just as I am by the national team doctors.

"In addition to our own physio at the club, who already has a lot of knowledge on the subject, I can also call on an external physio who specialises in pregnancy guidance. 

"That guidance gives me peace of mind and the certainty that what I am doing is safe. 

"What I have always emphasised is that I am *pregnant*, and not injured," Vanhaevermaet said.

It's why Palace's number 18 didn't worry when she was still playing matches in the first twelve weeks of her pregnancy. 

She said: “I was told there was little risk because the embryo was still in the pelvic cavity at that time, so little could happen, even if I got kicked or fell on the ground.

“If there had been any risk, I obviously wouldn't have done it, because the health and development of our baby come first. 

"Once I was on the pitch, I didn't really think about it anymore. And just as well, otherwise I might have played with the handbrake on.”

Vanhaevermaet will now miss the remainder of Palace's 25/26 season, and will likely not participate in the remainder of Belgium's World Cup qualifying campaign.

This doesn't stop her from dreaming about participating in what would be a first-ever World Cup for the Red Flames in Brazil next summer.

Vanhaevermaet is just three caps away from being Belgium Women's tenth-most capped player ever, currently held by Femke Maes with 85 appearances.

She said: “The World Cup is absolutely a dream. I would love to be there. Hopefully, I’ll be fit enough and ready to go. 

"Fortunately, there are plenty of examples of players who returned to the top level after their pregnancy. I really see that as a challenge.”

Crystal Palace Women enjoyed another unbeaten month, with the team winning two and drawing once in the WSL2.

Everett was a huge part of Palace's success, scoring one and keeping clean sheets in two of the three games.

She kicked off the March schedule in the perfect way, scoring the only goal of the game against Nottingham Forest in a 1-0 win on Sunday, 15th March.

Kirsty Howat floated in a cross to the near post after a quick one-two, and Everett headed the ball beyond the Forest goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

The Palace captain then kept another clean sheet away to promotion-chasing Newcastle United, with the Eagles having to settle for a 0-0 draw in the North East.

This was before the headline clash on Sunday, 29th March - where Palace took on Charlton Athletic at Selhurst Park.

Speaking on her win, the captain said: "It is an honour to be recognised and to win this trophy.

Everett and the team will return to WSL2 action on Sunday, 26th April with a trip to Sunderland.

Following that will be the final game of the regular season - Portsmouth at home on the 2nd May.
