## Annabel Blanchard

> Blanchard joined Palace in 2022 off the back of a remarkable season with Blackburn Rovers in which she earned both Coaches' and Supporters' Player of the Season, and has since grown into one of English football's most exciting playmakers.

Blanchard is a young, two-footed forward capable of playing across the front line or, more regularly, as a No. 10.

Blanchard began her career aged just 16 with Liverpool, but started her time with the England youth setup the year before, and has represented the national side from Under-17-Under-19 levels.

After leaving Liverpool she joined Leicester City and then Blackburn Rovers, with whom she finished joint-top goalscorer in 21/22.

Blanchard then joined Palace in the summer of 2022 and made a strong start in South London, with four goals in 22 Championship appearances in her maiden campaign.

In 2023/24, Blanchard's brilliance shone as Palace Women claimed promotion from the Championship, the forward scoring 11 times in just 19 league games including clinical hat-tricks against both Durham and London City Lionesses.

Such form led to Blanchard not only winning both the Championship Goal and Player of the Month awards in September – as well as a nomination for the latter for November – but also the club's Player of the Month awards for October and March to boot.

At the start of Palace's first-ever top-flight season, Blanchard became our inaugural Women's Super League goalscorer, netting a brace in our first win against Leicester City – 2-0 at the King Power Stadium – in October 2024.

There, we will face an Arsenal side who join the competition at this point, having bypassed the group stages due to their participation in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Arsenal are the most successful side in the history of this competition, having lifted the League Cup on no fewer than **seven** occasions since its inception in 2011.

#### **How can Palace go through?**

After a narrow 2-1 defeat to London City Lionesses in the first game, and a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town in the second, Palace find themselves in second place in Group D.

Group D is still up for grabs, with every team aside from Ipswich able to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Palace take on the Foxes at 15:00, whilst Ipswich host London City at 14:00 on Sunday.

Only the winner of each group will progress to the knockout stages, so Sunday's game is a **must-win** for the Eagles.

For Palace to progress, they must beat Leicester by three or more goals and also better London City's goal difference, should they beat Ipswich.

Should the game end in a draw, both teams get a point and a penalty shootout will take place with the winner earning an additional point - although this scenario would guarantee progression for Leicester City either way.

If Palace go through, they will progress to the quarter-finals, which will be held from the 20th-21st December, before the semi-finals which will take place from 21st-22nd January, 2026.

The final itself will be contested on either 15th March or 16th March, 2026, with details including the date, kick-off time and venue to be confirmed.

- **Final:** 15th-16th March, 2026

### **What will the match kits be?**

Leicester City will be play in their home kit: a blue shirt, blue shorts with blue socks.

Palace's goalkeeper will be in all orange, whilst Leicester's stopper will be in all green.

The referee for Sunday is Alice Parker.

Her assistants will be Zeyad Ahmed and Broghan Kelly, the fourth official will be Aimee Keir.

Our Palace for All matchday against Sheffield United last Sunday was the best attended game in the WSL2 that weekend, with over **1700 fans** turning up at the VBS.
