## Our Senegalese Sarr

> Ismaïla Sarr became the club’s third signing of the 2024/25 summer transfer window after joining on a five-year deal from Olympique de Marseille.

The 26-year-old attacker possesses plenty of experience of English football, having spent four years at Watford – recording 34 goals and 22 assists in 131 games – prior to joining Marseille, whom he helped reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season.

Sarr's career began in French football with Metz, before moving to Rennes and leading the club into Europe, as well as winning their first Coupe de France in almost half a century.

At international level, he has been a mainstay of the Senegal national side, earning 64 caps, scoring 13 goals and winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

His career has also been defined by his eye for the spectacular, having won Goal of the Season awards in both the Football League and the Europa League.

Sarr was ever-present in every Premier League matchday squad in his first season at the club, playing in all 38 games, while also featuring in a further nine cup games. He scored 11 goals across all competitions, with eight additional assists - including a stunning effort against rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and a brace against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.

The 25-year-old Norway international has signed a four-and-a-half year contract. He will wear the No. 22 shirt for the Eagles and becomes our third arrival of the January transfer window.

Strand Larsen has spent the last year-and-a-half with Wolves, following two seasons at Celta Vigo. Adapting to English football with ease, he scored 14 Premier League goals in 35 appearances during his first season at Molineux in 2024/25.

Strand Larsen made his professional debut for Norwegian club Sarpsborg back in 2017, representing them in the UEFA Europa League, before moving on to Dutch side Groningen in September 2020.

The powerful forward made his senior debut for Norway in November 2020 and has since become a regular at international level, winning 24 caps and scoring four goals.

The duo joined over the weekend from Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively, and could be in line to make their Palace debuts away to our rivals Brighton & Hove Albion this coming Sunday (8th February).

#### Have they played at Selhurst Park before?

For **Guessand,** this game would mark a Selhurst Park debut, having missed Aston Villa's trip to SE25 last month through his involvement with Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations.

**Strand Larsen**, however, does have previous at Palace's famous home – having scored the second of Wolverhampton Wanderers' two goals at Selhurst Park last season, in a 4-2 win for the Eagles – which came mere days after our FA Cup Final success.

The goal was, in fact, his second in two matches against Palace last season – having also netted in the 2-2 draw at Molineux earlier in 2024/25.

The centre forward scored 14 goals in 2024/25, his first Premier League season for Wolves, and is looking bring the same firepower wearing red and blue.  

Strand Larsen was on the radar of clubs as soon as he showed he could consistently score goals in England’s top level, but he chose to make the move to South London. So, where else to start, but why Palace?

“As soon as I heard there was interest, it’s something I wanted to jump on,” he told Palace TV.

“I feel like it's what I need and hopefully what the club needs as well. I'm here to bring energy, goals and to try and do the best for the club.

“There’s obviously many things to look into when you are changing clubs. But I’m looking at what the club wants from me – and what the club is looking to do in the future.

“I’m coming in to hopefully help win some games and bring the team back to where it was at the start of the season, because obviously that was amazing.

“It just shows Palace can definitely be there \[in the top half\] and should be there. Hopefully that’s what I can do.”

Our new No. 22 also confirmed he had already spoken with Oliver Glasner.

The Norwegian said that conversation with his new manager had reaffirmed that Palace are the right club for him.

“He definitely gave me a really positive feeling about everything,” added Strand Larsen. “I feel like since that talk, it's \[confirmed\] everything that I wanted to do.

“Everything I want to do is about coming in and helping him, and to help the team one game at a time.

“With his attacking system, the way he plays and with all the quality \[players\] around me, I think that we are a perfect match.

“It feels safe to come here and it feels like I'm going to get the service I need. That is really important as well for me.

“I'm a tall striker. I like to be in and around the box. I've always had a nose for a goal.”

Palace resume a UEFA Conference League campaign at the play-off stage later this month and Strand Larsen is determined to play his part in our continental charge.

“Hopefully, I'm here to bring another trophy this year,” he added. “That would be amazing, and I've dreamt about scoring in that final.

“Let's take it game by game, but hopefully, that's something we can do.”
