Sealey is sent down the left and squares across to Casey in acres of space. Casey returns the favour, before Sealey squares it back to him, but his effort is somehow blocked on the line!

We’ve been punished for not taking our earlier chances. PSG have deserved a goal in this game, and they now halve the deficit heading into the final third.

Williams does it in trademark fashion, catching a crisp half-volley just inside the area to double Palace’s lead – and deservedly so!

A bright start from Palace, with Casey threatening in behind before Judd makes a crucial block to deny Idder. The Young Eagles quickly go back on the attack, but Whyte’s effort is comfortably gathered.

Nascimento’s stunning free-kick and a brilliant penalty save from Harry Lee on the stroke of half-time have Palace ahead at half-time.

The visitors are enjoying more of the possession as the half enters its final stages, probing the Palace backline, but they are yet to seriously test Lee.

Palace are on top passing the 20-minute mark, with Makai Bernard-Ferguson’s delivery flashing across the face of goal before Walker-Smith pokes wide. Moments later, Walker-Smith sends Casey clean through with a lofted ball in behind, but the striker is denied one-on-one by the ‘keeper.

Nascimento wins the free-kick on the edge of the area before stepping up to whip it over the wall and into the top corner. Wow. Just wow. 🤌

Launched in 14/15, the competition pits Premier League academies against some of the best young sides from across Europe. This season’s 32-team field consists of the top 16 Premier League 2 sides from last season and 16 invited European clubs, split into four groups of eight. Each team plays four group-stage matches, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.

Powell makes three changes, as Jasper Judd, Euan Danaher and Benji Casey come into the XI. Casey is rewarded with a start after opening the scoring against the Villans. There is plenty of excitement on the bench, too, as first-year U21 Khyan Frazer-Williams is joined by summer signing Amaari Sealey and U18s Ajean-Ray Greaves and Raihaan Anderson, all in line for their competitive debuts.

The Young Eagles have enjoyed some memorable nights in the International Cup, reaching the final in 22/23 before suffering a 3-1 defeat to Jong PSV. A year later, Palace got their revenge. Franco Umeh’s deflected second-half strike secured a 1-0 victory over the Dutch side and saw the Young Eagles lift the trophy for the first time.

So far, so good for Darren Powell’s Young Eagles. Palace opened their Premier League 2 campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Arsenal before claiming a smash-and-grab 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Friday. But tonight brings a different challenge as our International Cup campaign gets underway. Can we kick things off in style?
