... as Mingueza's corner kick almost bends straight into the far top corner, but Collins manages to back-pedal and tip it around the post.

The visitors are denied a third by Benítez after Ballard runs in behind and looks to lob the keeper, but he duly palms it behind.

That's a decent chance for Chilwell. McNeil plays a lovely curved ball into his path - but his first touch is slightly too heavy, and Collins gets down low for City to claim at his feet.

Big opportunity for the Palace forward after some lovely interplay on the right wing. Mingueza is in space and lays off towards Nketiah, who touches it back into Guessand's path inside the box - but he gets beneath it and clears the crossbar with his effort.

Lerma is denied by a wonderful one-handed save by City substitute keeper Brad Collins, after the Colombian had ran to the near post and glanced goalwards from Guessand's free-kick. No idea how that one stayed out.

Moments after Guessand's lay-off narrowly misses playing Nketiah through, Mingueza heads a deep cross back into the path of Hughes - whose standing volley clears the crossbar.

But McNally gets there first for Bristol City. Palace seeking a spark to get them back into this game.

A free-kick is swung in from the right and attacked by Lerma, but the visitors scramble it clear.

It's a moment of quality from the visitors as Scott Twine wins a free-kick on the edge of the 'D' - and duly bends it over the wall, and into the top corner, Benítez no chance.

No sign of any additional time, and it looks like there'll be work to do in the second 45 for the Eagles.

A long throw triggers a goalmouth scramble and the ball bobbles around the six-yard box before falling to Hirakawa in space. He has the whole of the far side of the goal to aim for, but Benítez makes himself big and saves at point-blank range with his legs!

Palace clear a long throw, Nketiah touches it beyond the defender - albeit deep into the Palace half - and Pring drags him back. Definitely a yellow in a competitive game!

It's a brilliant effort from the No. 3, who touches down a bouncing pass from Guessand and strikes it superbly from the edge of the box – and it's not far away from finding the top corner.

Lovely flowing move in the final third from Palace, started by Disasi with a firm low pass to Guessand, who slips in Mitchell. His powerful cross is touched round the defender by Nketiah, whose skill is met with a swivelling left-footed effort - high and wide!

Palace collectively press high and Guessand seizes on a loose touch from Atkinson. He's duly hauled back by City's captain Joe Williams. Chilwell takes the effort and strikes it low - but off the wall.

It's a neat ball beyond the back line from Chilwell for his fellow left-sided defender, but the No. 3 is offside on this occasion, having galloped into clear space.

It's sharp from the Palace No. 9, taking a touch on the edge of the box to tee himself up from Mitchell's square ball - but slamming his first-time effort over the crossbar.

The visitors have admittedly looked threatening from their set-pieces, and a clever routine this time around sees Twine, I think it was, half-volley it back into a dangerous area. Benítez claims at the second attempt.

But Bristol City's backline holding firm for now. The Eagles are popping the ball around well, however - every player enjoying plenty of touches.

... for Palace, who are applying plenty of pressure now in the hunt for an early equaliser. Chilwell delivers now, Hughes flicks at it... but can't quite fashion a shot on target.

Palace almost hit back immediately, as Nketiah comes close to making contact with a diving header right in front of goal from Mingueza's first-time cross – but the ball flashes across the face of the net.

It's a dead ball in from the left from De Keersmaecker, and Luke McNally rises highest to nod Bristol City in front from six yards out.

It's a fierce strike from a tight angle, but Benítez always appeared to have it covered.
