The club is sad to announce the death on February 25th of our former player Ernie Price.
Ernie was born in Easington in 1926 and began his career with Sunderland before joining fellow north-eastern club Darlington.
Ernie came south to Palace from Darlington in the summer of 1951 and made his debut, along with two other players, on the first day of the 1951/52 season at Exeter City on 18th August. The wing-half made 25 league and cup appearances that season and weighed in with five goals, and the following campaign played in 10 games before leaving Selhurst Park for Weymouth Football Club in the summer of 1953. Ernie then also played for Bideford and Taunton Town.
The chairmen and all personnel at Crystal Palace F.C. send our sincere condolences to his family and relations at this sad time.
