Warnock Makes 11 Changes For Toon Tie

24 September 2014

Eagles boss Neil Warnock has made wholesale changes to his side for tonight's Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle United, with the Palace manager changing his entire starting line-up from the game against Everton last Sunday.

Paddy McCarthy skippers a side that sees full debuts for Kevin Doyle and Zeki Fryers and a first start of the season for Jonny Williams, with Dwight Gayle, hat-trick hero from the last round against Walsall, also given a start.

Having been an unused sub at Goodison Park, Wilfried Zaha returns to the starting eleven, with fellow academy graduates Sullay Kaikai and Jake Gray named on the bench, with Kaikai eyeing his Palace debut.

Also on the bench for the Eagles is Andrew Johnson who could make his return to Selhurst Park tonight.

The visitors have also mixed things up, making six changes to the side that drew with Hull City on the weekend, with Fabricio Coloccini, Daryl Janmaat, Emmanuel Riviere, Paul Dummett and Jack Colback surviving.

There are chances for youngsters Mehdi Abeid and Adam Armstrong, with Alan Pardew naming a strong bench which includes three of his summer signings – Remy Cabella, Facundo Ferrerya and Ayoze Perez.

Palace: Hennessey, Mariappa, McCarthy, Hangeland, Fryers, Zaha, Guedioura, Williams, Bannan, Doyle, Gayle. Subs: Price, Ward, Ramage, Kelly, Kaikai, Gray, Johnson.

Newcastle: Elliot, Janmaat, Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett, Colback, Abeid, Ameobi, Obertan, Armstrong, Riviere. Subs: Alnwick, Haidara, Sissoko, Anita, Cabella, Perez, Ferreyra.
