Pre-Season Friendly: Barnet 3 Palace 5

11 July 2015

A hat-trick from Dwight Gayle in the club's first pre-season friendly helped Palace to a 5-3 victory at Barnet with further goals from Reise Allassani and Fraizer Campbell completing the scoring.

The home side took the lead in just the second minute of the match as Barnet's John Akinde got on the end of a cross from Andy Yiadom to opening the scoring in the eight goal encounter.

Gayle soon got Palace back in the game with the first of his three goals. He was fouled just outside the box and then got up to fire the resulting free-kick past Graham Stack to bring the game back on level terms.

It was not long before Alan Pardew's side were taking the lead, as Gayle did well to pick up a long pass and then finished from distance with a shot that went into the net off the woodwork.

After having a header cleared off the line the striker completed his hat-trick early in the second half when he collected the ball and run through on goal, making no mistake, finishing the move to complete a perfect first outing of the pre-season for him.

Both sides made a number of changes for the second half and one of those, Chris Kettings, was beaten from close range by Luke Gambin just past the hour mark.

It wasn't long though before Palace were on target at the other end as Reise Allassani kept the two goal advantage in Palace's favour as he fired past the goalkeeper from inside the box.

Even though Kevin Lisbie pulled another back for Barnet, the final winning margin was to be by the two goals as Fraizer Campbell got on the scoresheet with an effort from the edge of the box.
