Gayle Departs For Newcastle United

1 July 2016

Crystal Palace can confirm that striker Dwight Gayle has signed for Newcastle United for a fee of £10 million.

The 25-year-old has passed a medical on Tyneside and joins the Championship club having scored 25 goals in 74 appearances for the Eagles during his three seasons in south London.

Signed from Peterborough United in the summer of 2013 for a then-club record fee, the lively attacker enjoyed some fine moments in red and blue, including scoring a Boxing Day winner against Aston Villa which took Palace out of the relegation zone the following December, and he will always be in Eagles folklore thanks to his late brace against Liverpool to complete a thrilling comeback when the sides drew 3-3 in May 2014.

The club would like to thank Dwight for all his efforts during his time at Selhurst Park, and wish him well for the rest of his career.
