Roy Hodgson was able to report better news from the medical room as his thoughts turn to Saturday’s match against AFC Bournemouth.
Wayne Hennessey had to pull out of the draw at West Brom due to an injury in the warm up and this was in addition to the manager already being without James Tomkins. Scott Dann and Yohan Cabaye.
All have now returned to training but this week James McArthur and Joel Ward are concerns for Hodgson as he considers his starting eleven.
“Wayne has trained for the first time today, the injury was a back spasm during the warm up and it’s not the first time it has happened but it was very unfortunate that this time it was on the day of a game. He has been missing from training this week but returned to training today will do so again tomorrow.
"James McArthur has had a virus earlier in the week but he has trained fully today although Joel Ward is a doubt for the game with a groin problem after the three matches in a week so a decision will be made on him nearer the day of the game.”
