Crystal Palace will travel to FC Metz for a pre-season friendly on Saturday 29th July.
The game will take place at the home of the French side, the Stade Saint-Symphorien, in a 3pm kick-off (2pm BST), and is the latest to be added to the Eagles’ schedule ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign, which will also see them play in the Premier League Asia Trophy and host German club Schalke 04 at Selhurst Park.
Metz finished last season in 14th position in France’s top-flight, in what was their first campaign back at that level after gaining promotion from Ligue 2 the previous campaign. They are one of the oldest professional clubs in France, and have enjoyed success in cup competitions and were regular participants in European football during the 1980s and 1990s.
It will be Palace’s first game in France since 2001, when they took on Bastia in Corsica in a friendly during the 2000/01 campaign, and marks the second time that they have taken on Metz, with the two sides facing off in friendly action towards the end of the 1966/67 campaign when Palace ran out 3-1 winners.
Ticket information will be announced shortly.
