Jairo Riedewald took no time in taking his place out on the Copers Cope training pitch as he started preparation for the new season after he signed the contract confirming his move to south London from Ajax.
“I am very pleased to be joining Crystal Palace and after speaking with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to have the opportunity to come over and play in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is a great competition to be involved in and it is a great opportunity to be working under Frank de Boer once again having been with him at Ajax.
“I look forward to meeting my new team mates and then getting the chance to be out on the training ground and being ready for the new season.”
Having played over 100 times for Ajax and represented his country he is certainly, even at his young age, a player who already has experience to his name but now looks forward to becoming part of Palace's next chapter.
“I look forward to learning about the history of the club and I'm sure I can start learning from the players as the weeks go on and I get to know them more.
“I have heard about Selhurst Park and the great atmosphere that the fans generate for the home games so that is another thing to look forward to.”
As well as Frank he is also joining another fellow countryman in the squad with defender Patrick Van Aanholt already having taken time out to be in touch.
“I have spoken to Patrick on the phone and he welcomed me to the club and I look forward to meeting up with him soon.”
The 20 year old will join up with the rest of the squad later this week when they return to training having finished their pre-season trip to Hong Kong and the defender was keen to reveal the strengths of his game that he looks forward to showing the Eagles fans soon.
“I am a player who likes to have the ball at my feet and look to play the ball forward and I am comfortable playing short and long passes. I enjoy going forward from the back with the ball and the power of my game is about having the ball at my feet.
“I am looking forward to having the opportunity to play with the number of talented ball players that are already in this squad at the club. I hope to get into the team and then play my part in hopefully a good season for us all”.
