Hodgson Plays Waiting Game

30 November 2017

Roy Hodgson will be playing a waiting game before selecting his squad that will travel to West Bromwich Albion for Saturday’s game.

The players returned to training on Thursday morning following the point picked up on the road at Brighton on Tuesday but the session did see some missing from the group.

Jeffrey Schlupp was absent whilst Scott Dann,Yohan Cabaye and Luka Milivojevic have slight knocks and a late decision will be made by the manager.

“I will have to wait until tomorrow as it is quite a short turnaround on this occasion being only the second day since we played on Tuesday evening. There are a few players we need to further assess so I will have to wait before being 100% sure of those players who are suffering  a little bit from the effects of the game against Brighton.

“None of them are massive concerns but they didn’t train today and had treatment so will wait before making judgements," said Hodgson at today's pre-match press conference.

Christian Benteke played a full 90 minutes in midweek for the first time since his injury and the boss was pleased to have positive news on the striker, saying he is fit and ready to play.
